An overview of the central theories, concepts, and research findings in medical sociology, the course and experiences of illness and patient‑practitioner relationships, the social construction of disease, professional medical subcultures and institutions, and the structure and political economy of the American health care system. Prerequisite(s): SOCI 1101; SOCI 1160.
